Regulation 7 Estate Agents Boards: Consultation (2019)

Town and Country Planning Act 1990

The Town and Country Planning (Control of Advertisements) (England) Regulations 2007

Regulation 7 Direction restricting deemed consent for advertisements within Class 3A of Schedule 3 (For Sale and Lettings Boards)

Proposed application to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to renew the Regulation 7 Direction controlling the display of estate agent boards for a further 10 years.

The current Regulation 7 Direction removing the deemed consent rights to display estate agent boards within certain Conservation Areas and some island sites outside of Conservation Areas within the Royal Borough expires on 27 September 2020. Once the direction expires estate agents will be permitted to display boards advertising properties / flats for sale without the need to apply to the Council for consent.

The Council are proposing to submit an application to renew the Direction, covering all the areas included within the existing direction, for a further 10 years.

The existing Direction has been successful with the included streets remaining free of estate agents boards. The Council has taken swift action to remove estate agent boards displayed without consent in these areas and is concerned to safeguard the amenity and visual integrity of the Borough from the visual clutter associated with these boards.

Details of the areas proposed to be included are given below.  The borough-wide map can be viewed below.  You can view this borough-wide map in greater detail here

You can view the detailed boundaries of the smaller areas by selecting the relevant conservation area below.

The Council are seeking your views on whether you would support or oppose this initiative. An online response form can be found at the bottom of the page.

The consultation runs for six weeks starting on Friday 29 November and ending at 11:59 pm Friday 10 January 2020.

If the Council does receive support for this proposal then an application would be submitted to the Secretary of State.
