Neighbourhood CIL - Community Priorities

Cover imageCommunity Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge that the Council collects from new development in the borough. It is an important tool introduced by the Government to help Councils deliver the infrastructure needed to support development.

CIL regulations require that a proportion of CIL (15%) is set aside as Neighbourhood CIL (NCIL) to be spent on local priorities identified by local communities. Where a neighbourhood plan exists, the proportion of NCIL is higher (25%) and is to be spent on infrastructure identified in the relevant neighbourhood plan. The borough has two neighbourhood plans – St Quintin and Woodlands and Norland.

As of February 2020, the Council has £2.6 million of NCIL funds and is seeking your views on community priorities by ward to spend NCIL on for the next two years. At the end of this consultation the top 5 priorities for each ward will be identified. These priorities will guide ward members in allocating the funds for projects in due course.

This consultation will run for six weeks from 11 February to 11:59PM on 24 March 2020.

The consultation document and on-line response form can be found on the links below. You can also respond to the community priorities poll at the link www.givemyview.com/rbkcncilpriorities.
